Good friend Kim (Thomas) Miller, hadn't seen her in years and got to stop and eat lunch with her on our way to the beach.

So, usually at the Oregon Coast you wear a wind breaker, fly a kite and stay out off the FREEZING cold water. It was unbelievably warm (for Oregon, all you southerners would still think it was freezing) Hailey loved it and if I had only known it was going to be warm and so hard to keep her out of the water I would have brought a bathing suit!

Of course we made a stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory, had to hit up all the good places while we were out there!

Wednesday -Sep 1st

We spent most of the day driving to Savannah. We got there in the evening, checked into our room and then spent the evening walking around town and went down to the River Walk. We ate dinner at Outback but I really didn't like my food that much, everything seemed to be covered in salt. Alan's was good though.

Thursday - Sep 2nd

We enjoyed breakfast out on the deck of our Bed and Breakfast Inn. We took the morning pretty easy just walking around town visiting the little shops and things. We walked through an art gallery. Alan and I both really liked these series of landscape paintings that were done by a local artist. As we walked through the rest of the gallery the artist was there in the back working on another painting. We both really enjoyed meeting her and got to talk to her about her work, and its inspiration. Alan also found another piece of art work that he "truly admired."

Alan has an Aunt that lives in Savannah and his cousin Dai Mar was also in town visiting. We were close to the library that she works in and thought we would stop in and say hello and try to set up a time to get together. She had left shortly before we got there so we headed to the beach - Tybee Island. We thought we would go on Thursday instead of Friday to beat the crowd. Surprisingly there were several people there, mostly surfers. The waves were huge, we had a good time but after a while of just being pummeled by all the waves I was done. It was nice to be able to just lay out on the beach and not worry about Hailey getting into trouble. As we went back to the car, Alan said "Dai Mar, is that you?" Nancy and Dai Mar had literally parked right next to us! He was here surfing, because they usually only have one good day for surfing a year, and that was today because of the Hurricane swells we were both headed to get food and decided to go together. It was nice to meet them and get to know them over dinner. Had a great time.

Friday - Sep 3rd

We went and visited Savannah's Historical Museum and saw some cool things like Forest Gump's bench and lots of old military gear. We also went to the Rail Road Museum. Of course Alan really enjoyed that being an engineer. I though it was neat too, seeing how they made everything work, especially back in the day. By about 2PM it was too hot to enjoy anything so we went back to the beach. The waves were a lot calmer today and I enjoyed not getting pummeled as much.

Saturday - Sep 4th

I realized we hadn't taken a lot of pictures so we took a bunch today! We went back to the Rail Road Museum because our ticket included a train ride but was only offered Saturday morning. It was actually an incredibly short train ride and there was a young boys birthday party there and I don't think our conductor knew how to handle children well. So....it was "interesting." Then we went on a carriage ride around Savannah before heading back home. It was one of my favorite things out of the trip. We learned a lot as we rode around town in a horse drawn carriage and enjoyed being told about all the historical sites.
